Guelph Police

Theft Under

On September 28, 2018 at approximately 7:35 a.m., Guelph Police were called to a commercial address on Gordon Street for a report of a theft. The culprit(s) attended to the business sometime overnight and damaged coin machines and stole change from the machines.

Break and Enter

On September 28, 2018 at approximately 7:20 a.m., Guelph Police were called to a residential address on Callander Drive for a report of a break and enter. The culprit(s) entered the garage and stole a black road bike with pink accents.

Motor Vehicle Collision – Property Damage

On September 28, 2018 at approximately 2:20 p.m., Guelph Police were called to an address on Elmira Road North for a report of a motor vehicle collision. It is alleged that a transport truck struck the side of a building causing significant damage. There were no medical injuries as a result of the incident.

Pedestrian Struck

On September 28, 2018 at approximately 9:55 p.m., Guelph Police were called to the area of Wellington Street East and Neeve Street for a report of a pedestrian struck. It is alleged that a male was crossing the street when he was struck by a vehicle that was turning left on a green light. The male sustained minor injuries as a result of the incident.

As a result, the driver, a 29 year old male, was charged with Careless Driving under the Highway Traffic Act.

Male Arrested

On September 29, 2018 at approximately 7:55 p.m., while on routine patrol, Guelph Police observed a male riding a bicycle without a light or reflector at the front or rear of the bicycle in the area of York Road and Watson Parkway North. As a result, police stopped the male. When asked to identify himself, the male provided police with a false name. Through investigation, police learned the male’s real name and that he was in breach of his probation.

As a result, a 28 year old Guelph male was charged with Breach Probation (x2), Obstruct Police, Improper Bicycle Lighting and Fail to Re-Attend. He was held for a bail hearing.

Impaired Driver

On September 29, 2018 at approximately 9:25 p.m., while on routine patrol, Guelph Police observed a motor vehicle travelling Northbound on Gordon Street fail to stop at a red light, nearly causing a collision. As a result, police conducted a traffic stop. Police spoke with the driver, and after speaking with the driver, it was revealed that the male was operating the motor vehicle with alcohol in his body.

Dang NGUYEN, a 58 year old Guelph male was arrested and charged with Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Over 80. He was given a November 9, 2018 court date.

Intoxicated Person – Arrest

On September 29, 2018 at approximately 11:28 p.m., Guelph Police were called to Wyndham Street South for a report of an intoxicated person. It is alleged that a male was belligerently intoxicated while in a taxi.

As a result, a 24 year old Guelph male was arrested for Public Intoxication.

Wanted Male Arrested

On September 29, 2018 at approximately 11:00 p.m., while on routine patrol, Guelph Police observed a male walking on Silvercreek Parkway South that was known to be wanted.

As a result, Joseph GODIN, a 26 year old Guelph male, was arrested on a bench warrant for Theft Under $5000 and Breach Probation (x2) in addition to being charged with Fail to Appear.  He was given a November 6, 2018 court date.

Graffiti

On September 30, 2018 at approximately 8:42 a.m., Guelph Police were called to Youngman Drive for a report of graffiti, consisting of both words and pictures, on a portable. The incident occurred sometime overnight.

Theft Under

On September 30, 2018 at approximately 8:43 p.m., Guelph Police were called to a commercial address on Woodlawn Road West for a report of a theft. It is alleged that a male stole an electronic, resisted arrested by a Loss Prevention Officer and fled the scene in a black pickup truck.

The male is described as white, 6 feet tall with short brown hair and facial hair. He was wearing a yellow t-shirt.

Stolen Vehicle

On October 1, 2018 at approximately 3:05 a.m., Guelph Police were called to Baxter Drive for a report of a stolen vehicle. The owner awoke to the sound of her garage door opening and observed her vehicle, a black 2015 BMW X3, being driven away. Police searched the area where the vehicle was last observed but the vehicle was not located.

Male Arrested

On October 1, 2018 at approximately 3:15 a.m., Guelph Police were called to a commercial address on Wellington Street West for a report of a suspicious person. Police attended and located the male. Investigation revealed that the male was wanted.

As a result, Christian ARMSTRONG, a 36 year old Guelph male, was arrested for Theft Under $5000. He was given a November 8, 2018 court date.

Calls for Service

From 6:00 a.m. on September 28, 2018 until 6:00 a.m. on October 1, 2018, the Guelph Police Service dealt with 600 calls for service.
