Male Arrested After Commercial Robbery

On March 31st, 2020, at 7:57pm, the Loss Prevention Officer (LPO) of a store located near the intersection of Woodlawn Road West and Woolwich Street in the City of Guelph observed an adult male wearing a surgical mask covering the lower portion of his face shoplift two bags full of merchandise (valued at $221.86). The LPO then confronted the male outside the store. The male refused to return the merchandise, stated that he knife and threatened to stab the LPO. The male then left the area and the LPO contacted the Guelph Police Service.

At 8:03pm, officers flooded the area and a Police Service Dog track was initiated.

At 8:29pm, police located the male in a nearby forested area and he was subsequently arrested.

A 31 year old Fergus male has been charged with:

  • Robbery
  • Disguise With Intent
  • Breach Probation x3

He was held in custody pending a bail hearing on April 1st.

 

Stolen Vehicle Investigation Leads To Numerous Charges

On March 31st, 2020, at 11:59am, police located a stolen vehicle parked in a parking lot located near the intersection of Arthur Street North and Eramosa Road in the City of Guelph.

At 12:23pm, while investigating the vehicle, the Guelph Police Service received a complaint regarding a suspicious male ducking in and around vehicles in the same parking lot. Officers located the male and upon approaching him, he fled on foot and was detained after a brief foot pursuit. During the foot pursuit, the male discarded a black duffel bag. A search of the bag revealed a dual sided serrated hunting knife with a blade of approximately 6 inches, and both a credit card and debit card not in the male’s name. The male was subsequently arrested. A search incident to arrest revealed the key to the stolen vehicle.

A 33 year old Guelph male has been charged with:

  • Identity Theft
  • Possess Identity Document
  • Theft, Forgery Of Credit Card x2
  • Possession Of Stolen Property Under $5,000
  • Fail To Comply With Judicial Release Order
  • Breach Probation x3

He was held in custody pending a bail hearing on April 1st.

Please note that a precursory search of the stolen vehicle revealed a large number of stolen identity documents including passports, driver’s licences, Social Insurance Number cars, etc. These documents will be sorted accordingly and could result in further charges.

 

Male Arrested For Curfew Violation

On March 24th, 2020, an adult male was released on a Release Order in the City of Kitchener with the following condition:

  • Remain in your residence 24 hours a day, 7 days a week except for medical emergencies involving you

On March 31st, at 8:15am, police observed the male walking on Waterloo Avenue in the City of Guelph. The male advised that he had just been at a pharmacy located in the downtown core for medical purposes.

Further investigation revealed that the pharmacy the male indicated he attended did not open until 9am and that a second pharmacy near that location also didn’t open until 9am.

At 8:45am, police again observed the male walking on Waterloo Avenue and he was subsequently arrested.

A 30 year old Guelph male has been charged with Fail To Comply With Judicial Release.

He will appear in court on July 21st.

 

Male Arrested For Using Counterfeit US Bill

On March 28th, 2020, at 12:08pm, an adult male used eight counterfeit United States $20 bills to purchase merchandise at a store located near the intersection of Imperial Road South and Paisley Road in the City of Guelph.

The incident was reported to the Guelph Police Service on March 31st, at 11:18am.

At 2:30pm, the male was found at a motel located near the intersection of Woodlawn Road West and Woolwich Street, and was subsequently arrested.

A 33 year old Guelph male has been charged with:

  • Fraud Under $5,000
  • Possession Of Counterfeit Money
  • Utter Counterfeit Money

He will appear in court on July 10th.
