Stolen Vehicle Investigation Leads To Numerous Charges

On April 11th, 2020, at 7:38pm, an adult male was preparing to leave the Guelph General Hospital. Prior to leaving, the male stole an Icebreaker Merino jacket (valued at $270) that was sitting on a counter. The jacket also contained car keys (valued at $400) to a 2011 Mitsubishi Lancer (valued at $10,000).

At 7:44pm, the male located vehicle in the parking lot and drove it away.

On April 13th, at 1:58am, police located the vehicle. It was unoccupied at that time. It was also now missing a portable battery booster (valued at $200).

On April 15th, at 6:15pm, police observed the male getting into a taxi near the intersection of Willow Road and Silvercreek Parkway North. A traffic stop was initiated and the male was subsequently arrested.

A search incident to arrest revealed:

  • Loaded black Phantom 4.5mm BB handgun
  • Canister of bear mace
  • 4.03 grams of Crystal Methamphetamine (valued at $400)
  • Gloves
  • Red bandana with eye holes cut out
  • Key ring which included a car key for a Subaru motor vehicle

The male has been charged with:

  • Theft Under $5,000
  • Theft Of Motor Vehicle
  • Possession Of A Controlled Substance – Schedule I
  • Possession Of A Prohibited Weapon
  • Weapons Dangerous
  • Possession Of A Weapon When Prohibited
  • Breach Of Probation x2

The male was held in custody pending a bail hearing on April 16th.

Please note the owner of the recovered key ring is unknown at this point. The investigation is ongoing.

Female Arrested After Counterfeit Currency Investigation

On March 28th, 2020, an adult female used five counterfeit United States $20 bills to purchase $99.27 worth of merchandise from a store located near the intersection of Woodlawn Road West and Woolwich Street in the City of Guelph.

On April 15th, at 9:40am, police located the female at a nearby motel and she was subsequently arrested.

A 39 year old Guelph female has been charged with:

  • Fraud Under $5,000
  • Possession Of Counterfeit Money
  • Uttering Counterfeit Money

She will appear in court on July 24th.

The Guelph Police Service would like to remind everyone to be vigilant in inspecting the current bills they possess and all bills they receive in the future.

 

Break In Investigation

Some time between April 9th and April 15th, a storage shed in a fenced compound located near the intersection of Dawson Road and Speedvale Avenue West in the City of Guelph was entered. Numerous tools were taken. Entry was gained to the compound as a hole was cut in the fence.

On April 15th, an abandoned motor vehicle with stolen licence plates was found in the parking lot of a motel located near the intersection of Woodlawn Road West and Woolwich Street. The stolen tools were located in the vehicle and returned to their owner.

Commercial Break In

On April 14th, 2020, just before 10:37pm, a male gained access to the maintenance room and the shed of a business located near the intersection of Stone Road West and Gordon Street in the City of Guelph.

On April 15th, at 12:32am, the male and a female accessed the maintenance room and the shed.

Numerous white towels were taken.

The male is described as wearing a toque, dark jacket and satchel.

The female is described as wearing a toque, face covering, dark jacket and backpack.

Residential Garage Break In

Some time between April 14th and 15th, 2020, the parking garage of a residential building located near the intersection of Gordon Street and Kortright Road West in the City of Guelph was entered. A blue 3500 Trek 21 speed bicycle with black and white decals, tan leather handle grip and missing seat was taken.
