Theft Of Motor Vehicle Leads To Arrests And Multiple Charges

Sometime over the night of July 28th, 2019, a black Ford 150 was stolen from the driveway of a residence on the south end of the city.

On the afternoon of July 28th, 2019, reports from concerned citizens regarding the erratic driving of a black Ford 150 lead police to the stolen motor vehicle. The driver and passenger were subsequently arrested and a search revealed a small quantity of crystal methamphetamine.

A 30 year old Guelph male and 21 year old Guelph female were charged with:

  • Possess Stolen Property Over $5000 sec 354(1)(a) C.C.
  • Occupant of Stolen Motor Vehicle 335(1) C.C.

The male was also charged with:

  • Dangerous Operation Conveyance sec 320.13(1) C.C.
  • Operate While Prohibited sec 320.18(1) C.C
  • Impaired Operation Conveyance by Drug sec 320.14(1)(a) C.C.
  • Breach probation X2 sec 733.1(1) C.C.
  • Posses Controlled Substance sec 4(1) C.D.S.A.

The male will appear in court on July 29th, 2019.

The female will appear in court on September 10th, 2019.

The Guelph Police Service reminds the community to be vigilant in not leaving their keys inside their vehicle, and both locking and monitoring their vehicles.

Break Enter And Theft Of Jewelry

Sometime between July 22nd and July 28th, 2019, a residence on the west end of the city was entered. A safe containing numerous pieces of jewelry valued at over $10,000 was stolen.

Park Vandalized With Graffiti

Sometime over the night of July 28th, 2019, a park on the east end of the city was vandalized. Numerous pieces of graffiti were painted in the area of parking lot and on a building with washrooms and changerooms. The graffiti contained several racial slurs.

Male Sprayed With Bear Spray

On the evening of July 28th, 2019, a male walking in the downtown area of the city was sprayed with bear spray. The male was treated by paramedics.

Male Arrested For Impaired Driving

Early on the morning of July 29th, 2019, an officer observed a motor vehicle driving on the north end of the city without any headlights or tail lights illuminated. Police initiated a traffic stop and detected an odor of an alcoholic beverage on the breath of the driver. He subsequently failed a roadside approved screening device breath test and was arrested.

A 36 year old Guelph male has been charged with Drive With Over 80mg Of Alcohol In 100ml Of Blood. He will appear in court on September 16th, 2019.
