Speed Enforcement Initiative Lays 10 Charges
In the evening of August 7, 2019 Guelph Police Service Traffic Unit engaged in a proactive speed enforcement initiative in Guelph’s east end including locations on Woodlawn road East, Watson Parkway North, and Grange Road.
As a result of the initiative, 10 charges were laid, including a Stunt Driving charge after a 20-year-old motorist was observed travelling 114 km/h in a 50 km/h zone on Grange Road.
Stunt Driving comes with an immediate 7 day Driver’s licence suspension, and a 7 day motor vehicle impoundment.
Male Arrested on Drug Charges
On August 7, 2019 at approximately 11:55 a.m., Guelph Police Service Drug Unit arrested a 56-year-old Guelph male in the downtown. He was in possession of several grams of Fentanyl and Hydromorphone. He will appear in court today to face charges of Breach of Probation, Trafficking and two counts of Possession for the Purpose.
On August 7, 2019 at approximately 4 a.m., an officer on patrol located a female on College Ave West who was wanted for failing to appear in court. Upon her arrest, she was searched and police found a stolen cheque and a small amount of what is believed to be purple Fentanyl.
The 23-year-old Guelph female will appear in court today to face charges of Fail to Re-Attend, Possession of Schedule 1 (drugs) and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime.
Vehicle Related Crime Spree
Sometime overnight on August 7, 2019 a parking garage on Woolwich Street was entered, a 2010 silver Suzuki Grand Vitara was taken, several vehicles were entered and one vehicle sustained damage.
