Red Light Runner Flips Car; Male Attempts to Saw Hydro Pole

On Saturday August 17, 2019, at approximately 7:30pm Guelph Police responded to a collision where a white vehicle travelling on Suffolk Street struck a green vehicle travelling on Norfolk Street. As a result of the collision, the white vehicle rolled over causing severe damage. The driver of this vehicle sustained minor injuries. The driver of the green vehicle was taken to the Guelph General Hospital for minor injuries as well.

The driver of the white vehicle, a 39-year-old Guelph male, was charged with Red light- Fail to Stop under the Highway Traffic Act 144(18).

Speed Enforcement

On August 17, 2019, the Guelph Police Traffic Unit conducted speed enforcement in the area of Wellington Street West and Imperial Road South, eight tickets were issued.

Suspicious Person- Arrest

On August 17, 2019, at approximately 8:00pm, Guelph Police responded to a report of a male using a saw to cut through a hydro pole. The male was quickly located by police and arrested.

The 58-year-old Guelph male was charged with Mischief Under $5,000 and Possession of Break In Instruments. He was later released on a Promise to Appear with a court date of October 1, 2019.

Theft from Cars

On August 17, 2019, the Guelph Police received two reports of theft from cars. The locations were Gryphon Place and Hickory Street.
