Impaired driver arrested

On July 8, 2019 at approximately 8:00 p.m., Guelph Police received the report of a possible impaired driver in the area of York Road and Watson Road. Police located the motor vehicle and driver on Dunlop Drive. Investigation determined that he was impaired by alcohol and he was arrested. He was transported to the Guelph Police station where he then refused to provide a sample of his breath.

A 58-year-old Toronto man has been charged with operation while impaired and refuse to provide breath sample. He will appear in court on July 19, 2019.

 

Break and enter – arrests made

On July 8, 2019, at 8:40 a.m., the Guelph Police went to the Royal Brock hotel located on Stone Road.  This hotel which is no longer operating has had recent break and enters and thefts.  A proactive check by uniform patrol located a male and female inside the building and they were both arrested. Subsequent to arrest, a search discovered break and enter tools and a small quantity of crystal meth.

A 50-year-old Guelph man has been charged with Break, Enter a Place- with Intent to Commit and Indictable Offence, Theft Under $5000 (Attempt), Possession of Break-In Instruments and Possession Schedule 1- Other Drugs. He will appear in court on August 13, 2019.

A 24-year-old Guelph woman has been charged with Break, Enter a Place- with Intent to Commit and Indictable Offence, Theft Under $5000 (Attempt), Possession of Break-In Instruments Breach Probation and Possession Schedule 1- Other Drugs. She will appear in court on August 13, 2019.

 

Break and enter

On July 8, 2019, the Guelph Police went to a Monarch Road business for the report of a break and enter.  The fenced compound was entered and tools were stolen from a trailer sometime overnight.

Break and enter

On July 8, 2019, the Guelph Police went to two Eramosa Road residences for the report of break and enters.  The sheds were entered and thefts are reported.

Break and enter

On July 8, 2019, the Guelph Police went to a Newstead Street residence for the report of a break and enter.  The shed was entered and a theft is reported.

Theft from cars

On July 7, 2019, the Guelph Police received three reports of theft from cars. The locations were Victoria Road North, Silvercreek Parkway North and Woodlawn Road East.

This crime is easily avoidable. Please lock your cars and do not leave belongings visible. If you do become a victim of this crime you can report it through the Guelph Police online reporting portal.

 

Calls for Service

Over the past 24 hours the Guelph Police Service dealt with 230 calls for service.
