On January 6, 2019 at approximately 10:00 p.m., Guelph Police were on patrol downtown on Carden Street. Police were flagged down and advised there was a male swinging a metal pipe. The male was located in the area and displayed what was believed to be an edged weapon at police. After a brief physical exchange, the male fled from police and got into the driver’s seat of a police vehicle in an attempt to steal it. The male was unable to do so and proceeded to run into the parking lot off of Macdonell Street, where he was arrested.

Person tries to steal truck with dog in it
On January 6, 2019 at approximately 10:30 a.m., a GMC pick-up was parked in the parking lot of Stone Road Mall in front of Indigo.
At this time, a gold Honda CRV pulled into the parking lot and what looks like a male gets out of the passenger side and gets into the driver side of the pick-up truck. The male punches the ignition and tries to steal the truck, but is unsuccessful. There was also a dog inside of the truck. The dog was not harmed during this incident.
