Happy 2019 – for those following Healing Path Counselling Services along – we did it!!! The #Last90Days challenge has been completed – congratulations. So as we enter into 2019, I thought it might be important to talk about those resolutions.
This is typically the time of year where one begins to self-reflect. What resolutions did you achieve or not achieve in 2018? Are there still some resolutions left half finished? Are those resolutions still important? Did you know that 80% of resolutions fail before February? And only 8% of people actually achieve their New Years resolutions.
Why is this a usual phenomenon? I believe there are two main reasons: (1) if you can wait until the end of the year then you need to evaluate how badly you really wanted it and (2) often people are setting resolutions because everyone else is doing it.
What I would suggest is you set GOALS instead and you start today. As part of my role as a life coach at Healing Path Counselling Services this is often what individuals need help strategizing. The most important benefit of setting goals isn’t achieving your goal; it’s what you do and the person you become in order to achieve your goal that’s the real benefit.
Goal setting is powerful because it provides focus. It shapes our dreams. It gives us the ability to hone in on the exact actions we need to perform to achieve everything we desire in life. Goals are great because they cause us to stretch and grow in ways that we never have before. In order to reach our goals, we must become better.
Over the next few weeks, I will be discussing how to go about setting your goals, specifically ~ evaluate and reflect, define your dreams and goals, make your goals SMART, and accountability.
