Guelph Female, 39, Charged in Impaired Head-on Collision

Head On Motor Vehicle Collision Leads To Arrest

On December 8th, 2019, at 8:32pm, members of the Guelph Police Service were dispatched to a head on motor vehicle collision that occurred at the intersection of Victoria Road North and Speedvale Avenue East in the City of Guelph. A white Honda Element had been travelling north on Victoria Road North in the center lane and had stopped at a red light at Speedvale Avenue East. When the traffic light turned green it proceeded north through the intersection, then crossed over the center line into the southbound oncoming lane of traffic, striking another vehicle.

Police arrived at the scene and subsequently arrested the driver of the Honda Element.

A 39 year old Guelph female has been charged with:
-Impaired Operation Of A Conveyance – Alcohol
-Operate Conveyance 80MGS Or Above – Alcohol

She will appear in court on December 27th, 2019.

Please note there were no reported injuries.

Pedestrian Struck By Train

On December 8th, 2019, just before 10:30pm, an adult male was struck and killed by a train travelling eastbound on a set of tracks east of Victoria Road North and north of Suburban Avenue in the City of Guelph. The investigation is ongoing.

Routine Traffic Stop Leads To Arrest

On December 9th, 2019, at 3:07am, police observed a motor vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed with no tail lights on Wellington Street West near Hanlon Parkway in the City of Guelph. Police followed the vehicle and ultimately stopped it on Silvercreek Parkway North. In speaking with the driver, she was observed to have an odor of an alcoholic beverage on her breath, and red and watery eyes. She subsequently failed a roadside approved screening device breath test and was arrested.

A 25 year old Fergus female has been charged with:
-Operate Conveyance 80MGS Or Above – Alcohol

She will appear in court on December 27th, 2019.

Theft From Motor Vehicle

Sometime between 10pm on December 7th and 8am on December 8th, 2019, a vehicle parked in the driveway of a residence located near the intersection of Fife Road and Wellington Street West in the City of Guelph was entered. A wallet was taken.
