Armed Robbery

On January 18th, 2020, at 5:45pm, two adult males committed an armed robbery at a store located near the intersection of Silvercreek Parkway North and Willow Road in the City of Guelph. Weapons were brandished and a large quantity of cellphones were taken.

The males were last seen running westbound away from the store with a large black garbage bag.

They were both wearing black pants, gloves and hoodies.

Apology

On July 27, 2016, the Guelph Police Service arrested Mr. Derrick Miller at Guelph City Hall for possession of child pornography and voyeurism.  On July 28, 2016, the Guelph Police Service issued a media release in which it named Mr. Miller as being charged with these offences.  Mr. Miller was not charged with these offences when the media release was issued or at any other time.  The Guelph Police Service acknowledges that Mr. Miller was not in possession of child pornography or engaged in voyeurism.  The Guelph Police Service sincerely apologizes to Mr. Miller for the embarrassment and damage that resulted from these events.

Update Regarding Stabbing In The Downtown Area

On January 11th, 2020, at 2:23am, the Guelph Police Service received multiple calls to attend in the area of a nightclub located on Wyndham Street North in the City of Guelph in regards to a disturbance.  Police received information that there were approximately 30 people fighting in the middle of the road.

Officers located two involved male parties and discovered that both were suffering from stab wounds.  They were transported to the hospital with non life threatening injuries.

On January 17th, 2020, members of the Guelph Police Service Tactics & Rescue Unit arrested an adult male in relation to the incident.

A 28 year old Guelph male has been charged with:
-Weapons Dangerous
-Assault With A Weapon

He will appear in court on February 28th, 2020.

The investigation is still ongoing.

Apartment Viewing Turns Into Drug Seizure

On January 17th, 2020, at 10:30am, members of the Guelph Police Service attended to an apartment located near the intersection Edinburgh Road North and Willow Road in the City of Guelph. The property manager of the building was requesting police assistance as they were looking to show the apartment to potential renters and had been having ongoing issues with the current tenants.

At 10:32am, police located an adult male hiding under a bed. Police recognized the male as being wanted on a warrant for:
-Assault
-Breach Probation

He was subsequently arrested.

Based on police observation during the arrest, a search warrant was requested and granted for the apartment.

During the search police recovered $266 in Canadian currency and approximately $5,863 worth of controlled substances including:
-2.33 grams of cocaine ($233 value)
-28.4 grams of crystal methamphetamine ($2,840 value)
-6.1 grams of cannabis concentrate, hash ($122 value)
-266.8 grams of marihuana ($2,668 value)

Based on the findings during the search warrant, a second adult male was subsequently arrested.

A 21 year old Guelph male has been charged with:
-Possession of a Controlled Substance (Cocaine)
-Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (Crystal Meth)
-Possession for the Purpose of Sale (Marihuana)
-Breach Probation x2

He will appear in court on January 20th, 2020.

A 55 year old Guelph male has been charged with:
-Possession of a Controlled Substance (Cocaine)
-Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (Crystal Meth)
-Possession for the Purpose of Sale (Marihuana)

He will appear in court on February 28th, 2020.
