Drug Trafficking Arrest, Male Assaulted, Female Impaired Driving & More

Ongoing Drug Trafficking Investigation Leads To Arrest

In January of 2020, the Guelph Police Service’s Drug Unit commenced a prescription pill trafficking investigation in the downtown core of the City of Guelph. On January 16th, 2020, members of the Guelph Police Service’s Tactics & Rescue Unit executed a search warrant at a residence located near the intersection of Wyndham Street South and Wellington Street West in the City of Guelph.  As a result of the search warrant an adult male was arrested.

A 48 year old Guelph male has been charged with:

-Trafficking In A Schedule 1 Controlled Substance x2

-Possession For The Purposes Of Trafficking

 

He will appear in court on February 28th, 2020.

The total value of the pills and cash seized in this investigation was approximately $4,000. The pills seized were various strengths of prescription opiates.

 

Male Assaulted In Downtown Core

On January 16th, 2020, at 8:11pm, the Guelph Police Service were notified about an adult male who had just been assaulted in an apartment building located in the downtown core of the City of Guelph. The male had refused to let a group of 6 or 7 people enter his building. When he tried to shut the door an adult male kneed him in the jaw and struck him in the face, breaking his glasses. The group then left the area.

Police searched the area but were unable to locate the male.

He is described as:
-Caucasian
-Late 20’s/early 30’s
-Tall
-Skinny build
-Glasses
-Black felt jacket
-White/tan military backpack

Please note that the victim sustained minor injuries that did not require medical attention.

Female Arrested For Impaired Driving

On January 16th, 2020, at 9:49pm, a security guard and a cashier employed at a business located near the intersection Scottsdale Drive and Stone Road West in the City of Guelph observed an intoxicated adult female inside the store. Before they could confront her in the parking lot, they observed her drive away and contacted the Guelph Police Service.

At 10pm, police observed the vehicle pull up to a residence located near the intersection of Edinburgh Road South and Kortright Road West in the City of Guelph. Police spoke with the female and she was subsequently arrested.

A 35 year old Guelph female has been charged with:
-Operation While Impaired
-Operation While Impaired, Blood Alcohol Concentration
-Class G1 Driver – Unaccompanied By Qualified Driver
-Novice Driver – B.A.C. Above Zero

She will appear in court on February 4th, 2020.

 

Female Facing Numerous Charges After Refusing To Leave

On January 16th, 2020, at 11:34pm, employees of a business located near the intersection of Woodlawn Road West and Woolwich Street in the City of Guelph contacted the Guelph Police Service in regards to an adult female who was refusing to leave the store.

At 11:37pm, police arrived at the scene, spoke with the female and she was subsequently arrested.

A search incident to arrest revealed stolen clothing valued at $27.97 and 0.4 grams of crystal methamphetamine valued at $140.

A 38 year old Guelph female has been charged with:
-Theft Under $5,000
-Possession Of A Controlled Substance (Crystal Methamphetamine)
-Fail To Leave When Directed

She will appear in court on March 3rd, 2020.

 

Male Arrested After Commercial Break In

On January 16th, 2020, at 5:04am, members of the Guelph Police Service observed the lights on inside an unoccupied commercial building located in the downtown core of the City of Guelph. A search was conducted of the building and an adult male was located sleeping in the garage area of the property. He was subsequently arrested.

A 59 year old Guelph male has been charged with Break, Enter, with Intent.

He will appear in court on January 21st, 2020.
