Male Arrested After Downtown Homicide

On January 15th, 2020, at 8:47 p.m., the Guelph Police Service received a report of a disturbance taking place behind the VIA Station located at 79 Carden Street in the City of Guelph where an adult male was being assaulted. The 63 year old male victim was working as a security guard at the train station and was located on scene with life threatening injuries. He was transported to the Guelph General Hospital but succumbed to his injuries.

A 21 year old Guelph male was arrested at the scene and has been charged with Second Degree Murder. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing on January 16th, 2020.

Over $1,300 Worth Of Items Taken During Residential Break In

Some time between 1pm on January 15th and midnight on January 16th, 2020, a residence located near the intersection of Willow Road and Edinburgh Road North in the City of Guelph was entered. Multiple items including a computer, two replica guns, a safe for ammunition, packages of ammunition, keys, a flashlight, a cheque, a carton of cigarettes and documents were taken.

Speed Enforcement

Between 8:30am and 9:30am on January 15th, 2020, a member of the Guelph Police Service High Enforcement Action Team issued five speeding tickets in the area of Niska Road and Pioneer Trail in the City of Guelph.

The Guelph Police Service would like to remind the public to slow down to help ensure everyone reaches their destination safely.

 

Male Arrested For Numerous Charges After Theft

On January 14th, 2020, at 10:50am, an adult male entered a business located in the downtown core of the City of Guelph. The male proceeded to a private room for employees and stole a purse.

On January 15th, 2020, at 10:37am, the accused was located in the downtown core and subsequently arrested. A search incident to arrest revealed the stolen purse and some of its contents. However a Coach wallet ($300), Samsung phone ($500) and $100 in Canadian currency were not recovered.

A 36 year old Guelph male has been charged with:
-Theft Under $5,000
-Possession Of Stolen Property Under $5,000
-Breach Of Probation

He will appear in court on February 25th, 2020.

 

Multiple Items Taken During Residential Break In

Some time between 1pm and 11:30pm on January 15th, 2020, a residence located near the intersection of Victoria Road North and Woodlawn Road East in the City of Guelph was entered. Multiple items including a laptop and loose coin jar were taken.

Silver Specialized Mountain Bike Stolen During Residential Break In

Some time over night on January 14th, 2020, the backyard shed of a residence located near the intersection of Paisley Road and Edinburgh Road North in the City of Guelph was entered. A silver specialized mountain bike was taken.
