Male Arrested Twice in One Day- Possession of Stolen Vehicles
On the 5th of July at 2:00am a 27 year old Fergus male was arrested for impaired driving, carrying a concealed weapon and possession of stolen property, when he was located by police in a stolen vehicle. He was later released on an undertaking with a court date of August 13, 2019.
At 12:55pm on the same date, yet another stolen vehicle was reported to the Guelph Police Service. The vehicle was located by police approximately 20 minutes later in the downtown area. The same 27 year old Fergus male was arrested for possession of stolen property. He was subsequently held for a bail hearing.
Child Leaves Residence at Night – Safely Reunited with Family
At 2:30am on July 6, 2019 a 6 year old female child was found alone and wandering in an east end neighbourhood. Concerned citizens contacted police to check on the child’s well being. It was discovered that the child woke up and left the residence on her own accord. She told officers that she had just moved to the area and was unsure how to arrive back home. Officers took custody of child and began a thorough search of surrounding neighbourhoods and school yards in hopes of locating her family. Police conducted door knocks at numerous residences, and drove through the area with the child, hoping to jog her memory.
At approximately 6:00am, police were successful in locating the child’s family. The young girl’s father and grandmother attended to the station where the family was happily reunited. Police have no concern of any wrong doing, and were happy to see the young girl being taken home by her relieved father.
On the 5th of July, 2019 the Guelph Police Service Traffic Unit conducted speed enforcement for 1 hour in the area of Woodlawn Road West and Imperial Road North. 5 Provincial Offence Notices were issued for speeding in that 1 hour timeframe.
